W.A.P Watch and Pray “The proliferation of pestilences” Meditate: Isaiah 24:4-6 Hosea 4:1-3 SARS, Bird Flu, Ebola, Measles, Norovirus and now Coronavirus. Pestilences and diseases that we thought were long gone have made a resurgence in today’s modern world and have come back more resilient. At the same time, new, deadly diseases are appearing threatening to wipe out humanity. Read: Satan has control of all whom God does not especially guard... While appearing to the children of men as a great physician who can heal all their maladies, he will bring disease and disaster, until populous cities are reduced to ruin and desolation. Even now he is at work...He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to become more and more frequent and disastrous. GC 589.2-589.3 Our world is sick and dying, nature is sick and dying, humanity is sick and dying. Again, Christ encouraged us to watch and see that when these things begin to unfold with the rapidity of pre-birth labour pains, then we should look up and know that His second coming is imminent. Death is an enemy and we shouldn’t get used to it. It was never part of the original plan. “The new virus, which first emerged at the end of December, has killed at least 17 people and sickened more than 540, including in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, South Korea and the United States. It has raised the specter of a repeat of the SARS epidemic, which broke out in China in 2002 and 2003 and spread rapidly, eventually killing more than 800 people worldwide.” Meditate: Ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. *While these prophecies received a partial fulfillment at the destruction of Jerusalem, they have a more direct application in the last days.* RH January 11, 1887, par. 12 Appeal: Despite the trouble the world is in, despite the chaos that will soon envelop our little planet, hold onto Christ. How? Study: Psalm 1 Matthew 26:41 He was with the Israelites IN Egypt when the plagues fell. He was with Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah IN the fiery furnace, He was with Daniel IN the lions den, He has promised to be with us and IN us as we traverse these last few hurdles before crossing the finish line from time into eternity. Will you trust Him? Maranatha! ———————————- References: GC - The Great Controversy RH - Review and Herald
