Oxford SDA Sabbath Service 10th October 2026

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16 vs 24 - 26 (KJV)
Announcements
Prayer Ministries:
Our Tuesday, Mid-week prayer and bible study sessions take place in-person at the Church and on Zoom. Please invite friends, and neighbours, as we stand in the gap, seeking the Lord in Prayer and bible study. We would also like to remind the church community (those who are willing and able) that we will be fasting and praying every other Tuesday of the week in our respective homes. Testimonies and breakthroughs will be shared when we meet for prayer at 7pm at Oxford Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Church Choir: The music department is inviting new members to join the Church Choir. If you are interested, please see Bro. Kofi or Sis. Nicole for more information.
The Children's Choir: The Children's Choir is still recruiting new members. All those interested in having their Children join, please reach out to Sis. Monique White.
Prison Ministries:
Our Prison ministries team is inviting volunteers to join the team. Ministry visits are normally arranged for the 3rd week of each month. If you need induction, please contact Sis. Patience (Oxford) to register (or Elder Barrett - Banbury). Please pray for this ministry as it grows from strength to strength.
The Prison Ministries team is planning an induction session for anyone who plans to volunteer. Please prayerfully consider this ministry. The date will be confirmed in due course.
Sister Cynthia Golding will be joining the SEC Prison Ministries project in Ghana this month, October. Let us pray for and support her with funds to make her trip successful. For more information, please see flyer for details and speak with Sis. Cynthia.
Community Services Department:
The Community Services Department would like to thank the church for its support of Gatehouse, including the food hampers given throughout the year. Gatehouse recently sent a newsletter thanking Oxford for its part in serving people experiencing homelessness, and we are glad to share that thanks with you.
The Community services team is inviting all who are willing to join home visits and prayers, to get in touch with the team or with the Elder on duty for the week.
The church is invited to the Personal Ministry Council this Sabbath afternoon, 10th October, from 3:00 pm. The council plans much of what we do as a church, so its decisions touch every one of us. Whether you already serve in a ministry or have never attended a meeting like this, you are welcome. Come listen, ask questions, and share your ideas.
Pastor Tim conducts Baptismal classes for anyone who would like to be baptised or who would like to participate in the studies. Please contact one of the elders or Pastor Tim on 07971186530 if you would like to take part.

SS 2026 Quarter 4: The Gift of Prophecy
Memory Text: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me'" (Isaiah 6:8, NKJV).
Just prior to Christ's second coming, God commands His church to proclaim the Elijah message again, and for people to turn away from their "idols" and be ready to stand in the great day of the Lord. God still communicates with His people through channels that He has selected. His Word and the gift of prophecy provide admonition, warning, counsel, and encouragement.
"A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it."—Ellen G. White, Selected Messages, book 1, p. 121. True revival starts in the heart and the home. The family is the cornerstone of the church and an indispensable building block of community. Revival in the home spreads a heavenly love to the church, the community, and the nation. This is God's purpose for the Christian home. Revival also motivates God's people for mission.
